Thanks for stopping by! My name’s Dave Marciniak and I’m the owner of Revolutionary Gardens. We’re a small landscape design firm serving all of northern Virginia, D.C., and parts of Maryland.
You may have noticed that this website is set up a little differently from most other landscape companies’ sites. It seemed only appropriate, since we’re not like most other landscape companies. I know you’ve heard that before. You’re probably waiting for a trite mission statement using words like quality, creativity, and excellence. Sorry, I’m not a mission statement kind of guy.
The #1 focus of Revolutionary Gardens is great landscape design. What makes design great? Great design improves the way a space functions, then makes it beautiful. As landscape designers we are professional problem solvers. Determining and then solving your problem is a good feeling. Doing it in a way that adds beauty and gets you excited to spend time outside is a great feeling.
Great design’s useless without a way to get it done, of course. I have a network of contractors, artisans, and suppliers who can handle any project. A designer who’s tied to one company is likely going to design to the strengths of their crews or what’s in their inventory. I don’t have that limitation; the only factor in my design decisions for your site is what’s appropriate for the site, your needs, and your budget.
Regarding the function of this site, I wanted my blog to be front and center. I enjoy blogging about all topics related to landscape design, construction, and gardening. Occasionally I’ll also discuss architecture, stormwater management, local food… whatever interests me and I can justify posting here. The info I share here (or in my newspaper columns or at workshops) is free, with no strings attached. I hope you find this site useful, and if you like it- tell a friend!
