As already stated, I’m Dave Marciniak and I’m the proprietor of this fine establishment. Since I’m a small business owner I’m also the designer, drafter, bookkeeper, webmaster, social media coordinator, director of photography, janitor, and so on. Truth be told I like it that way.
I’ve been in the landscape industry for most of my adult life. I grew up in Rhode Island, so my initial exposure was to landscaping for the New England climate and aesthetic. I’ve also lived and worked in the Cincinnati area, San Diego, and Phoenix (dry heat). My wife Mindy and I moved here in the summer of 2005.
We live in Culpeper, Virginia, a great little town that is pretty much an hour from everything- northern VA, I-66, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Richmond- and is a beautiful place to live. Folks have asked me how I deal with the drive into northern Virginia for work. I tell them, after a long day of getting stuff done, nothing beats coming down US 29 and watching the sun setting over the mountains.
With the homey details covered, what makes me the right choice for your project? I’ve been in the landscape and construction fields for over fifteen years. For the most part if I design something, I’ve built something similar in the past. That means that my designs aren’t just pretty- they work. I love what Virginia has to offer in terms of landscape design. It’s a great plant palette, the climate’s great for outdoor living, and there is just a phenomenal sense of history here. My favorite building materials include wood, brick, and stone, and these all contribute to a great sense of place.
It may sound corny, but there’s a lot of love in my designs. I’m not a designer with a big company just punching a clock, and I’m not a contractor who does drawings when he’s not getting trucks loaded, ordering materials, training crews, driving a Bobcat, or a hundred other distractions. I’m the designer. When you hire me to do your landscape design, that is my priority. I work hard for you so that you end up falling in love with your home all over again. That’s what makes me happy.
